Nursing Insurance in Troy and Piqua, OH

As a nurse, your proximity to patients means you're legally responsible for what happens in your presence. Unfortunately, even when you're doing your best, dissatisfied patients may hold you liable for problems outside of your ability to control.

Nursing insurance provides coverage for claims that go beyond what your school or employer provides (including incidents they don't cover or that exceed their policy limits), allowing you to have a sense of security and perform your job with the confidence that comes from being protected. Common uses for this coverage include:

  • Defendant expenses
  • HIPAA fines or penalties
  • License protection
  • Lost wages
  • Reimbursing patients for losses they may sustain while in your care

It is important to keep in mind that your workplace's insurance will not protect you from every problem that can occur. For example, if a complaint is filed with your local board of nursing and you need to fight it, you may be on your own unless you have individual insurance that can reimburse you for your expenses.

Nursing Malpractice Insurance

Accusations of malpractice have been on the rise, particularly as nurses are required to take on more responsibility. That's all the more reason to get an individual insurance plan as soon as you can, because the coverage provided by your practice or hospital may not be enough to pay for a malpractice suit.

The best way to obtain coverage against malpractice suits is to talk with a Koverman Staley Dickerson Insurance Agency agent about what you do in your workplace and what kind of risks or exposures you may face. Different offices ask nurses to do different tasks, and you don't need to pay for coverage on anything that's not your responsibility.

You may need insurance of this type even if you are not a nurse, but are performing any of the tasks normally associated with nursing. This includes volunteering to help care for others, with or without a license. If you're unsure whether or not you need nursing insurance in your current situation, talk to one of our agents and find out for sure.

Testimonials

It was January 26, Carla’s birthday. While visiting her mother that day, in Dublin, Ohio, she got a call that our home was on fire. When she arrived home, an hour and a half later, the firemen were still there and so was our insurance agent, Joe Dickerson. Joe was nothing but comforting and supportive that day, as was our whole experience with Koverman Dickerson Insurance. As we would never have known what to do next, Joe had already started the process of restoration. Within hours Chris Morgan of Cincinnati Insurance and Mike Stacy of Airway Construction and Restoration were at the house assessing the damage, sealing off the roof (snowy, 19 degrees) and working late into the night to make sure the house was secure before they left the property. Everyone was prompt, thorough, and followed through until our home was restored in excellent condition. Through the whole process we never worried about our living arrangements, our house, or our property. All of the payments were made to all parties involved in the restoration process in a very timely manner. Even though this was a difficult experience, Joe Dickerson, the Koverman Dickerson family, Cincinnati Insurance, and Airway Construction have provided comfort, support, and wonderful service.

Here at Milcon Concrete, we have been a client of Koverman Dickerson Insurance since 1995 and have been very satisfied with their service. We have found them to be very customer driven and helped us expand our business by over 50%. In the construction industry it is very important to have an insurance agent that understands the business and reacts to the ever changing environment. Koverman Dickerson has proven to be a great partner over the years and I would recommend them to anyone. It is hard to find companies that respond to your needs with as much diligence and care as they do.
